ABOUT ME

In the last 10 years, I've had both parents die from complications of Alzheimer's Disease. As I've delved into my family history, I've discovered that multiple other medical problems run strongly in my family: Strokes, heart failure, arrhythmias, high-risk cholesterol profiles, macular degeneration, retinal detachment, high blood pressure, brain aneurysms, and lymphoma.

As if that wasn't enough, 7 years ago I was incapacitated by a ruptured lumbar disc, and have since then been plagued with multiple other joint injuries. Previously, it was relatively easy to maintain fitness and health, but as I've now aged into my late 50s I've realized that staying healthy takes more knowledge, time, and care than it used to.

After my parents' diagnosis, I began studying genomics and epigenomics. I've had my whole genome sequenced and I closely follow my own epigenome to optimize the aging process. I've learned about all the factors that contribute to chronic diseases like Alzheimers. In an effort to keep myself optimally healthy, and to help my patients apply the very latest in cutting edge medicine, I'm working towards certification in functional medicine, aging/longevity medicine (A4M), and clinical lipidology. I also stay current with advances in traditional medicine, and maintain certification in the American Board of Internal Medicine. In 2023 I passed their 10-yr comprehensive re-certification exam above the 90th percentile.

I regularly incorporate the best of traditional internal medicine, diet, lifestyle and exercise principles into my own health care. I look forward to helping patients do the same.
